3dfx Glide wrappers... that emulate the Glide API... would be nice to use for Myth... once you have played Myth in Glide, it's REALLY difficult to play it in anything else.

All they do is translate Glide calls to OpenGL. You're really better off using the OpenGL renderer directly, as it'll have higher fps and more screen resolutions available.

just to post an update to this, i have since downloaded the 1.5 patch and have been revisiting MYTH TFL using the OpenGL support... and honestly, I can tell no difference from OpenGL and Glide... it looks amazing. Fantastic Job guys. Man I hope someone revives the Myth series.

That is great feedback. It has been years since I had my 3dfx card out to see Myth on Glide. You just saved me a few hours of work.

Kevinicus,

Are you saying you played Myth TFL 1.5 on a 3dfx card?

yup - i decided to check out this new patch. so first i downloaded that, installed myth on my windows xp notebook(with no problems, bungie really knew about compatibility!) and then downloaded the 1.5 patch and installed that. looked great.

for comparison, i installed myth on my windows 2000 desktop - and applied the patch. i played it using open GL with my geForce 4 card (i know, i need to upgrade!!). looked great. for kicks, i took out my card, and put in my 3dfx voodoo 5 card i still had kicking around - had to reinstall some new drivers which was a pain - and then played myth using glide.

glide is slightly smoother i suppose, and my new card renders faster i think - but there really isn't any difference. in fact, i think the openGL might be a bit better with the higher resolutions.

just my experience - i'm sure everyone has their own opinion about things like this.

Cool. I had thought of getting a 3dfx 3000 PCI card a while back, would have cost $50, nice to know openGL is comparable.

Heh, you could actually help out the Myth TFL 1.5 marketing by posting some screens showing openGL and glide, only if you wanted to, though :)
