F keys for Mac book running OSX

Post by karends3 »

I was wondering if there was a way to set the F keys so that I could change the game speed. The Mac book is set up to have F1 and F2 control screen brightness, F3 and F4 control sound etc. When I play myth these functions override the myth functions. I mainly want to be able to control game speed the other functions are less important.

Is there any way to recover the myth functions that were replaced by the Mac book functions?

Yes, there is. You either have to hold down the fn key while pressing the Fkey, or go to your System Preferences, to the Keyboard & Mouse pane, then to the Keyboard tab and check the 'Use F1-F12 keys to control software functions' checkbox. That makes the Fkeys behave as they do on desktop computers, and makes it so you use the fn key with the Fkeys to change the hardware functions like brightness/volume.

If you want to use higher Fkey functions, you may also want to check the Dashboard & Expose pane and make sure none of them are assigned to Expose functions, because if they are those will override any uses in Myth or Loathing.
The cake is a lie.
