Myth: TFL Resolution support on Mac
Myth: TFL Resolution support on Mac
Hi all! Just decided to go back to Mything after a nearly 2-year absence. Found and downloaded the 1.5 update - which is stellar, and so far runs flawlessly. Even my old films played back. Kudos to the guys who did all the work!
Anyway, I've been playing through the old Myth (wanted to start at the beginning, so to speak, to get my fingers and brain back into mythical shape) and after a few days, I've found myself perpetually annoyed by only one thing:
I can't change from 640 x 480 resolution! And it's just killing me
I've scoured the forum and the internet looking for a clue to what I need to change, and I'm stumped. All I've found is several clues that seem to indicate that higher resolutions are supported, but never a mention of "how" to get them.
So I hope I'm not being stupid and missing the obvious, but here's the details:
I'm on a 20" iMac (PPC, the last of the breed.. )
When I launch with "option" (the old way to change res.) it offers me two choices: 640x480 @ 0hz, and 640x480 @ 0hz.
Oh, and I've tried changing my desktop resolution first (down to 800x600) before launching, and I've tried both OpenGL and Software rendering. No differences.
I appreciate any help! Ok, back to blowing up the knot on level 6..

Hmh. THats peculiar. Well. The way I run it on my 17 PB (also PPC):
On the start with option menu: set it to NOT switch resolutions. When I have it set as such, the main menu and such is shrunken (since the files are all 640x480 or whatever, so that makes sense), but when I start an actual level, it jumps up to whatever my desktop resolution is.
Maybe that'll help? Otherwise I'm not sure...

PS. If you are ever up for some coop/multiplayer whatever on mnet, let me know (im usually on udogs HL). Haven't been getting my TFL fix since that bum cap retired.

Eureka!
I feel pretty stupid now!
Then again, I just never thought to uncheck that box... I just assumed my resolution had to be on the list in order for the game to recognize it.
Thanks much! When I've got my warmups done, I'll look you up online.

Sorry to hijack this topic, but I'm also interested in playing some TFL games on marius.net. If someone (besides DA) is interested please send me a private message or something else (maybe even creating a topic) and hopefully we can gather some people and get some games going.Death's Avatar wrote: PS. Heh sorry, I was kinda sleepy ... just was saying you were already interested.Death's Avatar wrote:Whats THAT supposed to mean?!Avatara wrote:(besides DA)
Yeah, we could set a regular TFL night if people are motivated enough (I doubt it, but could be worth a shot, I know Nation's seems to have fallen through).

I might get on hl.udogs.net and try to arrange something.

Not to derail the conversation, but what's up with the resolution switching?
Is it that hard to make Higher Resolution menu's that don't need to switch out?
Aren't there high res menu's in the game's tags?

I decided to look up in the sky, and lo and behold there was a BoB. I stared at him, and he stared back. There was silence for a great while until he said in a thunderous, booming voice..."Okay, Okay, DON'T Frogblast the ventcore."

But as a Mac user it's a pain in the ass for the constant resolution switches. Don't shoot it down because you don't need it.

<- Is a mac user and could use it...
I just do what myrd said, which is the situation I was referring to in the first place. The out of game screen is like 3/4 black borders, but in game it jumps to full resolution. I mean, it doesn't looke PERFECT because there are big black borders around menus, but it is 100% functional, causes no resolution switching, and is generally badass.

But Not switching resolution is actually worse for me, as When I go to regular gameplay it keeps it all in a 640x480 resolution in the top left corner.
(It could be the 800x Resolution...)
