Can myth chat work on both marius and playmyth
Talk about anything here.
Can myth chat work on both marius and playmyth
Can myth chat work on both marius and playmyth at the same time?
if one does not learn from the failings of the past they are likely to suffer its return.

My understanding is no, as myth chat doesn't support the encryption that playmyth uses. Mnet uses encryption if the client (ie myth, myth chat or aleph one) does, otherwise it communicates in the clear like b.net used to.

Blades made available the encryption routine as a DLL for Mariusnet (as I'm sure you recall). If that DLL (mythcodec.dll) could be obtained with permission, I don't see why the functionality couldn't be added. The file is a part of the Mnet App's download, all you would need is the function prototypes from it and knowledge of what they are supposed to do.
Just some wild-ass guessing

MythChat is in Java though, which means calling dll code would be problematic (especially if you're not running on x86). However, the source code for that encryption is available in the updated metaserver code, which can be converted into Java... However, it's up to Capital to do this, or whoever else has the code for it.
hmm it would be a nice save...
hmm it would be a nice save if this could somehow be implemented
I had posted links a few times to the op watch program that basically saved the flashpoint community by allowing players to find games where ever hosts where easily and auto downloading the required plugs and addons.
allowing views into the lobbies without jumping to pmnet or marius would be a good way to do something similar.... even if one fades away its still a valuable tool... Mnet is probably the future of myth though at present even with its plane without a pilot feel pmnet still seems to be working better in areas that people still count on to experience the game...
mainly orders, stats , buddylists and most importantly number of players joining and hosting games.

Hey, maybe the new myth server re-write will make it a fully-fledged chat server with file transfers & video conferencing!
