Greetings board members..
I'm new the online Myth experience and would love to become a part of this community. I have Myths 1 & 2 and would love to start playing online. Would you please start an online virgin such as myself out in the right direction :embarassed:

Welcome to the myth community VKnight!
You'll find it's not always polite, or politically correct, but it can sure be a hell of a lot of fun.
There are a few things you need. First of all, there are still a few people who play Myth TFL (1), but the vast majority of remaining players use Myth 2. So my recommendation would be to grab the latest patch for it and head over to http://playmyth.net
If you decide you'd rather play Myth TFL, http://mariusnet.com is probably a good choice of metaservers since it seems more TFLers hang out there.
The latest version of Myth 2 btw, is patch 1.5 which is still in development (almost done now!), so you want to get the Final Candidate release. This was just a small change from public beta #2, so the files that were distributed for the final candidate only contained what changed, what this means is that you must first install public beta #2 of patch 1.5, then install the final candidate to make sure you're as up to date as possible. Of course, if you want to wait a week or 2, you can get the final version of Patch 1.5 then, but I suspect you want to dive in right away.
Once you've got the latest patch, and you've registered for an account at http://playmyth.net (and/or http://mariusnet.com) the only thing left to do is get yourself some plugins. If you like coop maps (where you play cooperatively against the computer) this website has lots to offer. You can also find ports of the TFL levels to Myth 2 here which I would highly recommend (although they aren't small downloads). WW2 plugins are also very popular if you're into that kind of thing.
Finally, if you're just looking to shoot the breeze with some of the programmers and map makers here at magma, you can stop by our hotline server at hl.projectmagma.net (this requires that you have a hotline client, which can be obtained from here:

Hope to see you online,

Thanks for replying , Doobie !
I may play both Myth TFL and Myth Soulblighter. Okay you said I need patches, since I'm using a Mac with OS 9.2, do I just download all of the Mac patches compatialbe with my OS ? And when I go over to Playmyth, do I have to change my telephone service to hook up or is it just a register and play thing ?
..I awoke to see the horizon filled with Wights..
word of advice if you want to avoid some of the nastier elements of online play.
Do not play in any 2 team random games, people will give you a very hard time if you're new and play in them.
Always play for the game objective, people can get very angry if you play bc in a koth game.
If you're on a team say you are new. Don't ask for the "big guys with muscles" or say you're good with a particular type of unit, just take what is given to you and do exactly as the captain says.
