extracting maps from plugins

How to extract the colormap of a plugin to a file (like .png) so i can draw on it etc. on mac osx?

You can use Loathing to export the color map. (You want to first extract the plugin to a local folder with UnTag first,t hough.)

Yeah, in Loathing choose Maps ---> Color Map ---> Export

to import it back in just select import from the same menu gugusm showed you. Make sure its saved with indexed mode 240 colors!! very important.
