I have been fooling around with my coulormap and the like, and i have a map that (generally) works. The only problem is, the blood that spawns ingame is GREEN!
I set it to a dark red in Fear, and, figuring it was a problem with the coulor map, put several shades of red in the coulormap itself. Still green blood though! What do i do?

Re: Green Blood
Sounds to me like you've indexed your map at more than the default number of colours. Myth requires about 16 colours reserved for the base colourmap to apply blood splatter and explosion stains. The recommended index number for a colourmap is 240, though with that said I've been indexing my cmaps at 245 for years and havent noted any drastic problems as a result. more than 245 and you will start noting small graphical problems, and in some more drastic cases you'll see big problems like green blood.
Re: Green Blood
Not going to lie, I have no clue what an Index Number is. Is that the number of coulors? I just switched it to 245, so lets see what that does.
.:EDIT:.
Works, Thanks so much. Doesn't look quite as good, but I'll know better for next time

Re: Green Blood
If you're just starting out with mapmaking I'd highly highly highly suggest reading this tutorial by clem.
In this particular case you can alleviate the loss of detail by editing some of your textures hue tones to be closer together. This will allow the two different textures to share more of the same colours after 8bit indexing is applied, and therefore retain more detail of the original 32bit texture.

Re: Green Blood
also, if you have your colormap all done (as it sounds) but are running into some issues because of the indexing, clem wrote a seperate "tiptutorial" that is specifically about how to get the best looking colormap WHEN indexing.

Re: Green Blood
VR! You should know better, being the hoarder of all data that is Myth! That tiptorial is included in the ending pages of the walkthrough pdf! As well as his excellent tips for terrain mapping as well as model placement.
Re: Green Blood
hmmmm....maybe i should actually read some of these documents i have piled up all over the place...
been a long time since i read the cmap 'walkthrough' i must not have found the indexing 'tiptutorial' until later.
now i wonder if the indexing webpage (tiptutorial) was the forerunner of the colormapping guide, or he seperated it into it's own document since it was the question he was asked most.
