Looking for obscure maps

Post by vinylrake »

So after going through an old list of over 800 Myth II maps, I discovered an awful lot that I can't locate on my HD. :(

If anyone has zips or .sits of ANY of these or knows where I can download them that would be great - I've already checked udogs and the Tain to make sure they weren't on either site. I am NOT asking anyone to start googling or start searching, these are just things I expected to have on my HD and don't and I figure someone might have them lying around on their HD. If no one has them I'll start a more thorough hunt. A couple of the authors are infrequent visitors here, I'll pm them if they don't respond).

Thanks for any help/leads.

That MythWarrior is not the mech warrior clone plugin located here:

http://tain.totalcodex.net/items/show/mythwarrior

Otherwise, none look familiar, I'll keep my eyes open though.

There are 3-4 Myth Warrior maps, I assumed the Dracotis reference was for a seperate map and not for the conversion-basic-map-set itself. I could be wrong.

Vinyl-- I've been on the road for several weeks and just saw this post.

I know I have some of these maps/plugins, but won't be able to access until I get home again (probably a couple of weeks or more from now). Will let you know what I find then.

I'm always amazed how many obscure and intriguing plugins you have in your collection, and I have a ton of them myself! It's like you found a bunch more in a parallel universe or something. :)

heh. I just posted it on Sunday, so you aren't lagging.

This list was actually indirectly from Project Magma. I was looking for a zip file of some map a couple of months ago and the only hit google found was to a list of m2 maps that looks like it dated back to 2001. (nothing private or secret looking or I would have let Magma know in case they didn't mean for it to be public)

Hope the road trip is going well, check in when you are back.

Question. Can we get full databases of what plugins you guys have?

There are a ton I used to have back in the day, I am sure if I saw the names, I totally remember which ones they were.

i am working on it, but right now my 'collection' is dozens of folders on several hard drives, involving multiple copies of most maps, multiple versions, some as sits some as zips some as 7z some i have in all 3 compression formats. lots of naked plugs that might be duplicated in zips. the 'maps' folder i am trying to organize is around 17GB and that's not the largest one. 2/3 to 4/5 of those are probably just unzipped folders of maps I also have zip / sit versions of, and of the remaining there are tons and tons of duplicates.

and that's just officially released maps, i haven't even started tracking udogs upload folder contents.

I offered to volunteer my time to sort everything like in the uploads folder that should go to their proper main folders, but I never get the ok, so stuff with continue to remain in a completely messy and unorganized state.

given that people upload in development maps into their uploads folders, i can't imagine how you could make the call whether something is 'finished' or not. even if it plays without bugs a developer might have more changes in mind.

are we talking about different upload folders? i was referring the user_uploads folders - which I know contain a lot of tweaked maps and some in progress maps.

I am talking about the stuff in http://hl.udogs.net/files/Uploads/ (excluding User Uploads); stuff that just need to be moved into the proper non-upload folders. I would clean it up myself voluntarily, if I could just get the OK. It's just a big mess right now with all the various upload subfolders.
