Whenever I launch the full app, it always seems to put me into the most crowded lobby (good). Or maybe the app is just putting everyone into the same default room?
But when I tried the demo, it put me in a lobby all by myself...even though there was another lobby that had all the regulars in it. Is the demo making different decisions about this, and if so, why? People who aren't paying attention may just think no one's online, ever.

I'm pretty sure it just tries to join the last room you were in, otherwise it picks the first room with space. People hang out in the 'second' room in GoS since it saves films. We could swap this next time the metaserver is rebooted to accomodate people who join and don't know how to switch rooms I guess if people don't mind room names changing...
