I'm glad to hear Myth III runs well. Figures that the one version of Myth that I've tested more under Intel is the one that runs half decently.
Let me ask the ?(Don't take this as more then a question either): How many people would be willing to make a donation towards a modernized Myth II? It would be a Universal app, use quick time for play back of high quality cut scenes, redo the plumbing to take full advantage of OS X APIs(this probably wouldn't boost in game FPS much if at all) but it would make it more robust(less chance for lag, loss networking packets, etc). It would support 10.3 and newer only. I don't think the installed base of 10.2 is worth giving up the features of 10.3 for.

i think fixing Myth 3 engine would be more profitable...
make it more fast paced, remove the lag, make things shinier etc

so ... it'd be more profitable to work on myth 3, which next to no-one plays, and leave myth 2 on intel OSX in a state that many find unplayable?

It's for reasons like this that I (really my wife since I'm a PC user mostly) bought a G5 PowerMac now instead of waiting for an Intel one. Haven't played Myth on it yet, but I gotta say, it's real fast and real sweet.
Dual 2.3 Ghz G5 Processors
2.5 Gb RAM
250 Gb HDD
256 Mb GeForce 6600 video card
24" Dell LCD monitor (almost as nice as the Apple 23" but a lot less expensive)
Total cost: $2797 + tax.
Muahaha!

I would immediately donate but well my iMac cost me enough. Hello ramen for the rest of my life. Damn college expenses.

If we're talking lower 2 digit donations for Myth II, I can live with that.

Think of it this way. Do you guys ever buy new games? What are they $50 to $70 nowadays? If half the mac users donated half that to the updating of Myth to be a universal binary it can add up pretty fast.
I must say though, I'd be a lot more motivated to donate if I knew that I would get my money back if the project was scrapped because not enough other people donated.

I wouldn't except donations until the project was finished and yes it would be the 2 digit type of donations.

In the meantime, before you get started on Myth II: S00perd00per, is there hope for a beta build of a plain old vanilla version of a Universal Binary any time soon? Like later this evening??!?!?!

heh making a Intel build isn't that quick & easy. Just to build it, will require the cutscene code to be rewritten. But yes I could probably have something in a few days if I burn a good # of hours on it.

Terrific! I can wait to retire the old TiBook to music playing duties for a short while longer.

Myth 2 doesn't need a re-write, at least on the Mac side. I'm running a 4 year old Mac and it just glides. Personally, I agree with Zeph. Working on Myth 3's problems and then porting what we wanted there would be better. Myth 3 isn't as bad as people make it out to be and I wish more people would play it. I like it.
