Point, you keep mentioning Patch. To do the Hex editing and have it work, you need to build a normal Plugin File. You hex edit those first chars to 00 02 00 06 on the Plugin, and that hex changes the plugin to read like a Patch. You don't build a Patch File.

What Graydon meant is that you have to make a normal plugin if you wish to hex it to load as a patch plugin. Although I just tried it with a tagset plugin and Fear loads fine. It even loads fine without the normal plugin this tagset runs with.

Point, how about you try it with a different plugin, to see if you can get some hexed plugin to work with Fear to begin with.

How odd. I'm running XP, PC Fear/Loathing works with the hexed plugs.

I don't recognise the application you're using. What is it?

I use HexEdit... not sure what version, maybe that's just a newer version.

HexEdit saves two files when you save. The edited one stays the same, and the original un-edited version gets saved with a ~ in front of the name.

Perhaps you're somehow trying to use the wrong saved version?

Try with HexEdit if that's not what you're using already.

well some plugs work

Post by Point »

well i jumped over to the pc side of the world and got some tagsets to work others not... maybe when a tagset is built some other check box needs to be set...
or some file not in the plug or some file in anyway no go...

though i think its a corupted tag if that

found and invalid tag in the monolithic file line#3281

is a real report.... can someone tell me how to find it (line 3281 on pc

on mac its 3353 a few tags generate it though they play fine online...

Error: Data Corrupted in tag_files.c, line #3353: found an invalid tag in the monolithic file ':plugins:CWE-CivilWarReloadedEpic-a9.m2t'
Error: Data Corrupted in tag_files.c, line #3353: found an invalid tag in the monolithic file ':plugins:CWR-05-15-08-Tagset_b1'

Error: Data Corrupted in tag_files.c, line #3353: found an invalid tag in the monolithic file ':plugins:Quarantine b11'

Re: MAP MAKING VIA A TAGSET PATCH...

So does all this still apply :) or does the new fear change this...

is it still 06 or now 07 etc...

thanks.

looks like with the new loathing ... it will just load the patch created in fear... the old one might still need the hex edit...

i went with this format and will put them in my udogs folder for potential map makers...
patch plugs...
ZTag Mapper CWR 1.7
ZTag Mapper CPR 1.7
ZTag Mapper AoM 1.7
ZTag Mapper B32 1.7
Ztag Mapper wAvA tba... ;)

Why would this behavior be removed or altered without notice? It wasn't. There is no Patch 1.6 or 1.7 so you can still use 06 so it loads after the Patch 1.5. Or you could simply have it as a local folder when you need it for Loathing.
