.sit = .s*it ;)

I really like 7zip these days. I did that ultra-zip-compression-test-thingy and the Anywhere Multiplayer pack went from 102 MB to 98 MB - whoopie! Heh.

But when I compressed it in 7zip (.7z) format it went from 102 MB to 73 MB - sweet!

Heh. I have tested it before so I've also seen what it can do. 7z gives the best compression for plugins but not everybody is able to open 7-Zip archives, although it is slowly becoming more popular. The amount of saving for each zip or 7z depends on what's in the archive.

When compressing 7z archives, increase the Word Size setting to the highest number and the Dictionary Size to the level of Ram you have free, and you'll get better compression. It might lock the system up if it uses up all the Ram so be careful not to overdo it.

I've said since some time ago that it would be good if the largest downloads like The Fallen Levels and Chimera were also available in .7z. If disk place isn't an issue, could this be done with an alternative download link?

The Bushido Pack is in .rar by the way, how did that happen? :D

lol! Fell right into that one... :)

Actually I didn't mind using v5.0 (which I still have), but the newer ones had so many hoops to get to the "free" one, and then it filled my PC with all kinds of crap (went from light to HUGE). Just evil.

Funny on the .rar file - I de-compressed that puppy just a couple of days ago and thought it was odd. Guess what I used to de-compress it? 7zip. Heh. It does great with .tar/.gz/.tgz, etc., too.

Stuffit works fine on Mac. I think they just put stupid things into the Windows version. But I prefer zip because Finder handles it automatically. But it doesn't really matter what format. I can open the usual suspects. All it takes is an application download.

It seems Scourge of Belial and Requiem of the Dead are now zip'd. Nice.

I don't think everybody should have to hand over their email address and download a big, crufty application :wink:
