Could that may explain the origin of Creep's Juniper wall and what is being "Border"ed?
There was a Basic D&D module published in the 1970s called 'Keep on the Borderlands'. I always assumed that was the reference.

I actually have (or had) that module. Odd I never made the connection between the map and the expansion module.

I'm sure Creep On The Borderlands is meant to be set at the city walls of Covenant. Juniper = Covenant. Open "Flight From Covenant" for comparison. Are there Myth references in the D&D module?

Interesting question. From the wikipedia entry:

The Keep was set in the land of 'MYSTara' (Everyone is always confusing Myth and Myst)

If you are curious how the myth map compares to the original D&D map here's maps of thewilderness and the Keep keep. (like all keeps, the inner keep looks pretty similar to the Baron's Keep )

not myth related, but the keep was released several times. The initial release, than a later release that put it in the world of 'greyhawk', then there was a Return to Keep on the Borderlands, and finally when Wizards of the COast bought AD&D they published a 'novelized' version of the campaign.

The Keep has also been converted/adapted/appropriated/modded to be an adventure in NeverWinter Nights2,
