opened it on what? A software firewall? Or an NAT router? Or a dedicated firewall? If it was an NAT router, are you sure you forwarded port 3453 to the right local address?

Ah... ok.
I have D-Link router. As you probably know, when I put in my IP (10.x.x.x, whatever) to the address bar in netscape/explorer/whatever, it comes up with a name and password thingy.
I go into that, and following the instructions there I go to the port forwarding part. When I try this on my PC it doesn't work. I tried it on a Mac and it said it worked (the new Port rule thing showed up in the list).
HOWEVER, I think somethings dodgy because when I checked earlier, it wasn't there anymore.
So sorry Doobie - I guess I didn't open port 3453. something is rotten in the state of Myth and I think it's me.
Any advice?

That's unusual, sounds like a problem with the router..
perhaps try power cycling it to give it a fresh start? Maybe upgrade firmware?

YEEEEEEEEEEEAH! I can host! YAY!!!!!!!!!!
Gee, I hope setting it DMZ doesn't do anything bad that I don't know about... oh well. I'd rather be able to host anyway.
