Is it possible on a mac intel (one of the new macs) to install os9 so as to be able to use amber and vegas and apathy?

Nope, OSX doesn't support Classic past 10.3.9

OS 10.4.x runs Classic fine on my G5 iMac! But not on Intel Macs. Sorry.

Edit: I found an article about running OS 7.5 onwards on an Intel Mac. Look at it here:http://www.uneasysilence.com/archive/2006/08/7352/

Note: The picture is running OS 9, and in my experience, iMacs (G5/Intel models) have a nasty habit of spitting out scratched disks. If this is the case, you could download OS 7.5. A link is provided on the page itself.

Trying that link on uneasy silence I was able to install OS 9.0.2 or something like that. After amber crashed twice though, I remembered that i don't use amber so I don't really care =p. But I think you should be able to get it working.

It isn't nearly as nice as classic was, but it is something.

The only problem is Internet Connection. Unless Mac OS 7.5 accepts Memory Sticks, you can't transfer files between OS X and OS 7.5. mb a CD?

Aye like lugas said, I can run classic fine. Not being able to run it is linked to to the computer. Not being able to BOOT in OS 9 has been around for a little long. The solution: write new apps! :P

Not that's it's the same thing, but when I try to run OS 9 apps like tagExtractor or Amber from OS X.2 I often have to start the applications THREE times. The first two times it will cycle through the 'starting classic' screen then just crap out before the app appears. For some odd reason the third time is a charm.

Er...yeah, sorry, I meant boot in OS 9...my bad.
And yeah, anything past 10.2.8 can't boot in OS 9...but they can run Classic up to the new Intel OSX...

I'm on 10.4.3 running on a G4 tower. I have Classic mode start up every time i boot up my computer, and it seems to work well enough. Usually if an OS9 app crashes though, I'll have to restart classic mode. As people have stated though, I don't think classic mode works on the intel macs.

Solution: Buy a used mac laptop or something practical to do your mything on :D
