Plugins for OS X user, I need help

Post by karends3 »

I can't get any of the downloads to work on myth 2. Most of the downloads require them to be placed in a the plugins folder of myth 2. I have tried this but no plugins are ever available in the game. How do I get the downloads to appear in the plugins window of the game.

I think I might need to use something from the myth install disk, any thoughts?

thanks

To make plugins work...

1) download plugin

2) unzip (or unstuff) plugin

3) copy JUST the map or plugin file (i.e. NOT the entire folder) into your Myth 2 / Plugins folder

4) Start up Myth

a) If it is a solo game click on the solo button then at the bottom of the levell selection box that appears click the 'plugins' button. Choose the solo map/level you want to play from the left(click on it to select it), click the arrow to move it into the right (active) window and click ok. If the map you selected IS actually a solo map it will appear in the list. If it is NOT a solo map you won't see it in the list.

b) If it is a multiplayer map you downloaded, click the 'multiplayer' button then select either PlayMyth/Mariusnet/TCPIP then select the Host a game option/button. From that next screen that shows all your game options, click on the 'options'(or is it called 'plugins'?) button then select the map you want to play (as described in a) above).

Then click 'Start'.

Thanks,

I got it to work for the "Fallen_Levels_v2_Full" download (which told me to put the entire folder into the plugins folder.

However some other downloads are being a bit weird but I think I can figure it out. It's been a long time since I last played and I'm re-learning how to do all this stuff on my new macbook.

I appreciate the help

happy to be of help.

fyi, I have occassions where a solo map won't pop right into the map selection list after(on the main screen when you select solo and then 'plugins' and have moved a map to the right window) I sometimes have to select the plugin and move it to the right window, then click ok, then because the map doesn't show up in the list I have to cancel the solo map selection popup then go back and click 'Solo Game' again - it's usually in the list when I do that. In really extreme cases, I do all of the above then before I click the 'solo game' button from the main screen I hold down the SHIFT key as I click the solo game button.

I am sure the people who have been working on Myth will say I am supersititious, or that the newer versions of myth don't do this anymore, but some combo of the above seems to work about 99% of the time.

No, you're not superstitious, I have to do the same thing sometimes. Some solo maps won't show up in the New Game dialog after you select the plugin unless you've already played that map, so you have to do the Shift-New Game thing to get it it in the New Game dialog.
The cake is a lie.

Thanks, that sounds like it will clear up any further problems. Do these procedures will work for myth 1 as well or are there different tricks for TFL?

Thanks again for the help

for TFL you use spacebar instead of shift.

At least that's what my years old memory tells me. Use at your own risk.

Yeah, spacebar for TFL and Shift for Myth2.
