hello,
so I'm working on a project and I'm interested in looking at some old 1.4 films from around july-ish 2003. The trouble is, the build of 1.4 (1.4.4?) that's on magma for 'historical purposes' only displays the films at lower quality, and 1/2 of them still go OOS. I was wondering if there's somewhere where there are more 1.4 builds so I can find the right one, and maybe that will help.

Try 1.4.0 and 1.4.1 also.
I believe 1.4.0 gameplay is different from 1.4.1 gameplay which is different from 1.4.2-1.4.4 gameplay.
For each one, you also need to use the Patch files from that release (for example, Patch 1.4 is different between 1.4.0 and 1.4.4).

Are you sure the patch files are different? I don't remember changing them that much - in fact during the 1.4.1 to 1.4.4 series we did the best we could to minimise changes, focussing on platform and performance issues for the most part. The biggest change was 1.4.0 - 1.4.1.
Anyway, do we have installers for all those old versions lying around somewhere? ** hopes so **

I think in 1.4.2 or 1.4.3, there was a tag change w/ dwarf soft deaths.

I have the mac application of Myth II 1.4.1 and it's Patch 1.4 file (which does differ from the latest version). I can upload these if you want.
EDIT: I also found the Mac installer for 1.4.0, which includes a different Patch 1.4 file also.

m2_140_and_141_mac.sit in my user uploads on hl.udogs.net
It's just the 2 apps & the corresponding Patch 1.4's (you still need the other Patch 1.2, 1.3, etc... - but they're unchanged from other versions).

There's also the stuff
under this directory . Not sure if Myrd (or someone else) just added it, but I thought I'd point it out anyway.

thanks iron.
strangely enough the mwc03 films are all good to go with 1.4.1, but some of the tfc2 films go OOS with 1.4.0 and 1.4.1. i suspect they were played with a later beta of 1.4.0 but god knows what/where that is.
