Is this a port of the original hearthguard or the really crappy modified one?

With support like this it's really suprising there aren't more people making things for the Myth games.
From the link - for anyone too lazy to move their mouse and click a link -
"This is a direct port of the Hearthguards from Myth III. Entirely reanimated by me using Cinema 4D."

Unit looks good to me. Replaced the zerks with him and played library last night. Was pretty fun, although I probably should have replaced the archers instead.
Good work Zeph.

I did click the link.
This is a direct port of the Hearthguards from Myth III
This doesn't tell me which version of myth 3.
Thanks for your helpful reply though, with support like yours I don't even need to ask questions since you send it to me telepathically before.

Well, I checked them out, nice
BTW: They are tough guys, were they so strong in Myth 3 too? I can't remember well.

I didn't know there were multiple versions of that unit. Mind explaining? Or were the hearthguards different on some maps? Or did the Myth 3 updates do anything to them?

Well the original version of the HG (hearth not heron in this case obviously) had close to archer like range and kicked a lot of ass.
It got heavily changed in like v1.1 or something and they now had less range than Bre's in M2 and consequently no-one ever bothered to trade for them since normal dorfs killed them horribly.
Hmm I could go on a rant about how mythdev guys messed up the gameplay of M3 but I'll stop there

I actually thought you were asking which hearthguard PORT the plugin was - e.g. whether it was the good port or the crappy one. Thus my comment. Now I see you were asking about which version of Myth 3 the hearthguard was ported FROM. Obviously I need to read more carefully before replying to things.

Well seeing at its a map making resource the question of which M3 hearthguard version is void. If it was a plugin then it would really matter but its not.

i modified the myth III settings to my liking. He shoots longer than a bre'unor, fights better than one and has less range than an archer.
Its a mapmaking ressource, do what you want with him, I'm not saying he's perfect.
The direct port means it was made using the Myth III model.

Since I doubt I'll ever be using one in a game it wasn't really important, I was just curious.
It sounds like you've modded it nicely, incidentally what trading point value did you put on it?
