Autohost woes

I like to autohost games on mariusnet from time to time, but I have a small problem with it. I host the games from my work computer and I use planicon to keep Myth hidden. The problem is that once a game starts up, the window unhides itself and jumps right up in front of the screen. Help! It's not supposed to be doing that! =\

I don't want to accidentally leave my monitor on leaving work one day and have my boss hear sounds of dorfs blowing up thrall echoing from my office. Also, I'd rather not be showing him something on my computer in the middle of the day and have Myth suddenly jump out in front. I'd rather avoid answering the "what's that" question.

Is there any way to make Myth behave and stay in its little corner?

You could always turn the sound off. And stop autohosting when you might show something to your boss. And maybe even turn off your monitor when you leave the office computer on when you off work.

All the things you listed are woes I have during autohosting, hence the post's subject. I'd really rather not have to worry about it. I'd like to hide the window and have it stay hidden.

Does it still jump to the front if you set Myth to use software rendering set to 640x480 (ie the same as the menus)? I assume you're running in fullscreen mode, not windowed? I'm thinking that if Myth doesn't have to change resolution then it might stay hidden.

Try running M2 in Windowed mode in 640x480 with software rendering.

And try toggling "Windows Hacks For Lag" if it eats all your CPU.

I just tried this and it didn't help. maybe it's time for m2 1.7

Don't forget the tab for the host to view the currently active plugins.
