Stabbing my eyes out may help

I have been having a huge problem and I can't seem to get rid of it.

I join a game hosted by someone else and anything I type does not show up. My unit selection request does not go through. I cannot command my units to move. AT ALL. Problem goes away when I host my own game.

I tried a reinstall. No luck. Uninstalled, then reinstalled. Success. So I thought it was a buggy fluke, but then it started happening again for no reason at all. Restarting the program doesn't work. Computer reboots don't work, either. I'm talking to others on Mariusnet and some of them are having the same problem. I tried switching to PMnet and the problem still exists.

Post the contents of your myth_log.txt file. Maybe your CD is too scratched and the files are not perfect. :?

Unlikely. I'm running off a full install, one that worked just fine for a long time, then gave out.

What OS are you using? Are you video card drivers updated?

Windows XP. My video card drivers are fine. This is not a video issue. I click and my units won't do what I tell them to do. They just stand there while the game goes on around me. I can see it happening.

Does single player work fine?

It sounds like a problem with your network connection. Like some of your packets are just being blocked...

Single player works fine. Hosting my own game works fine. If it is my network connection, then the problem is manifesting itself ONLY with Myth and in no other area. Also, two other friends of mine experienced the same issue the same day. Highly illogical we'd each be experiencing the same network issue, but then all of this is rather illogical to begin with.

Another note: sometimes when I alt-tab out of the program, then pop right back in, I find my units all of a sudden doing what I commanded them to. Not always, but sometimes it works.

I've experienced something similar lately, but it wasn't that my units didn't do what I told them to, it was that there was a 2-5 second lag between when I clicked and when they moved. Maybe your problem is the same, just a much longer delay?

Got home today and decided to play some KotH. It worked just fine. Not sure what brings the problem on and off. Wish I knew.

I experienced this problem several months ago, I was unable to move my units or chat in game, other than that the game ran perfectly for 15-60 secs, after that I was able to move etc again. Not had the problem in a long time though

Weird... never happened to me.
