Need Myth 1.3 update for Mac
Need Myth 1.3 update for Mac
I just scored a cheap copy of Myth III for Mac off eBay, and I'm looking forward to playing v1.3.1... but I can't install that without the 1.3 patch.
Since FlyingFlip has disappeared, that (and earlier patches that I might need to install 1.3) has also disappeared—the few places that mention it instead of the more recent but 1.3 dependent 1.3.1 patch link the download to the defunct www.flyingflip.com.
Can anyone point me in the right direction so I can score the right update files? Much appreciated!

Tain only has 1.3.1 patch, guys. I Have that one. It requires 1.3 as a prerequisite. Any idea where to find 1.3?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Are you sure that one needs 1.3? Did you try it?
Re: Need Myth 1.3 update for Mac
Yes, I tried it. It requires 1.3; which is why I wonder whether 1.3 will require 1.2, and so on. Are those up anywhere for Mac, or does anyone have a copy they can email me?

Where are you running the patch from? Have you tried running it from the m3 directory? (not familiar with the mac install methods)
Re: Need Myth 1.3 update for Mac
I am pretty sure it doesn't need 1.3 first (contrary to what the readme says).
Re: Need Myth 1.3 update for Mac
"You must have installed the v1.3 patch prior to upgrading to v1.3.1..."
I put the updated application in the folder, and the ffPatch.tag file in the plugins folder. Those are the instructions. I'm sure it's required.
I really appreciate the interest in figuring this out. I'm fairly certain that what I really need is that updater to 1.3.

Does it not work when you try to launch it, after placing those files?
I think ffPatch.tag was the file that was originally not included with 1.3.1 - only with 1.3, but is now included (but the readme was not updated).

Yes, the 1.3.1 update _REQUIRES_ installing the 1.3 update first.
So no-one knows where to find the Mac 1.3 M3 updater?
TIA,
dan k

Where, exactly, are you being told that you need 1.3 before updating to 1.3.1 (the install should be drag-and-drop)?
Re: Need Myth 1.3 update for Mac
I'm on OSX and if I remember correctly, all you need to do to update to 1.3.1 is replace the old application with the new one, and put the ffpatch into the plugins folder.
Re: Need Myth 1.3 update for Mac
I've lost my M3 CD, but wanted to get into Balistic to check out a map from M3 that will sort of act as a model for a new map I'm developing.
I asked Jon to just send me his myth folder. If, in fact, something is being 'installed' on the mac, I don't know what it is. He just sent me the proper patch tag (ffpatch) and the 1.3.1 app, and it booted up without any issues at all.
Have you tried doing a 'manual' install, and just taking the files included with the 1.3.1 update, dragging and dropping? I know it seems like everyone's asking you that same question, but bare with us, we're trying to get your situation ironed out

This is how you do it...
Install it, get the update, drop "Myth III v1.3.1" into the Myth folder and make a folder called "plugins" inside it. Move "ffPatch.tag" into that folder. Double-click the 1.3.1-app. Play!
