IIRC, there's a few times things are hidden as such, like the staff in "The Deceiver"

Without a doubt script related. I think that particular SB is the one that gets MOMAed at the end battle when the SB you're fighting hits 50% health or whatever threshold it is, that guy gets replaced but his object tag doesnt allow damage so you can't actually kill SB a level early.

I added the Deceiver to that level once just so I could kill him
