I dont know what happened, but recently Myth II 1.7.2 will lead to my computer completely turning off while playing. I've tried both software and directX 10/11 with the same problem.

Your computer might be overheating. Do you play other games or run other intensive programs on that computer? Keep it cooler and see if the problem goes away.
Yeah if it's a laptop that's usually due to overheating. Try using DirectX 11 or OpenGL instead of Software mode... that should help with any CPU overheating and look *much* better than software. Also leave v-sync enabled if you haven't already.
Regardless of which renderer you use, enabling Max FPS and setting it to a low number like 20 or 30 will greatly reduce the amount of heat being generated, and also save battery power.
yeah , I used to run a bitcoin mining program and I think that used to take advantage of the graphics card and that was when my machine started all this.
but that tip about lowering the FPS seems to be working.
