Reviews of Siege of Otter Ferry

A good first attempt at a map, much better than mine was! I really liked the TFL feel, the bright colors, and sort of that classic myth look. If you want constructive criticism though, I have a few thoughts.
For one, it is a small mesh. It could work, but not it would be a niche map and if you added some surrounding terrain like a lake, farmland, or even just more village, there would be more opportunities for movement. Especially since there is only the one bridge, it basically funnels all fighting to a two-three unit wide area. That, too, seems problematic to me. Especially since the flag is on the bridge in KOTH, I forsee a rush followed by domination. Just adding another bridge or extending the map and offering a ford, or a dam or something would allow for more interesting tactical choices and not just a joust.
Regarding unit comp, I only played classic, but in my opinion that was way too many troops for the size the map is at now. Also, it is nothing but archers and brigands which is a rather uninspired unit selection. There are little tactical opportunites on this map to use either in a creative fashion alone. Consider adding unit trading first and foremost, that offers the most replayability, and offering some dorfs, ghols, or journeymen. We need more variety.
Regarding the colormap itself, great TFL tones and sharp lines. Reminiscent of the first level of TFL of course. But you need to take a dirtying pass on the map. Add some tufts of grass, some patches of dirt, and little bits of detailing where the buildings meet the ground. Add a few points of interest on the roads, like a noticeable pothole, or a section being overgrown. Add tire tracks at the junctions where the wagons that took the turn too tightly ground the grass down. Dirty things up, detail detail detail. Myth isn't a world of well planned roads and amazing upkeep. It is medieval, in disrepair, and in the end it is rather dirty.
Also, maybe replace the trees with the fall trees if you are going to use the falling orange leaves projectiles all around the forests. Its weird to see these bright orange leaves falling off green trees.
Bottom Line: Good first at a map, but not really multiplayer ready, yet. Make it bigger, offer more tactical advantages (probably a bridge, some height variation? A town wall?) and really work on that unit trade, especially if the map doesnt get MUCH bigger, look to I'll Fall On Your Whatever for inspiration.
Old school! Love that kind of thing. Interesting unit selections on the first mesh (Brigs/Archs). Nostalgic!
