Myth II 1.6 OSX STILL using 640x480 interfaces??????

Okay I'm just hoping that I'm really stupid and it is possible, but I have my doubts. Ever since Myth 2 came out, when the program loaded, it HAD to switch to a 640x480 monitor resolution. It never gave any other options. At the time back in '98, I could understand this since resolutions were small. But now with monitors pushing 1200x1000 or whatever plus, I can't believe this hasn't been updated. To my eye, it looks like the interface was made to be 640x480 specific. What confuses me though is the preferences allow you to change the resolution, and when a game starts it DOES go to 1024x768, my natural resolution.
What's the deal here people????

You hit the nail on the head. The interface images are 640x480 specific. The game can be rendered at theoretically any size, because the game itself knows about the whole map even if you can't see it.
If you wanna redo all the images in the game to fit every possible resolution, be my guest.

if you hold down option when u start myth up you can choose to not change resolutions. It means the game runs in a small section of the screen with a black background, but i prefer this to the hugely pixelated blown up version. I have thought about this a few times, are there any high res versions of this image around, or a way to make it so the main screen could look better on higher resolutions?

The Interface graphics are indeed 640x480. So are all of the dialogs (metaserver lobby, prefs, etc). To redo them all would be a lot of work, not just from the programmers, but artists would need to make a lot of new interface art (for all the different resolutions that everyone wants to have). In the end, its just not worth the effort off a small volunteer project like ours.

If someone made the effort to do the artwork, the dialog tags could be adjusted & special versions of patch 1.5 made with the new resolution(s). I don't _think_ any coding changes would be needed, but that said its still a ton of work, which is why it hasn't been done.

Coding changes would still be needed - Myth needs to know which resolution to switch to (and in window mode, which size to set the window to).

Whenever I start up myth the screen is windowed and floating 640x480, and when i start a game it jumps into my full resolution. When I quit the floating window comes back.
Don't see why you guys can't do that?

The in game does appear to work on at least 1024x768, which is kinda weird.

in game it will work on almost all resolutions, i happily play myth on 1400x900, but the title screen, pref screen and metaserver screens are all on a 640x480 template, there is no larger image so they cant change this without extensive work

In game will run up to 2048xX. At least, thats all there are collections for.

I run it at 1280x768 (damn widescreen G4 Ti PB's...) but amazingly...I don't get any stretching when I'm in game which is cool...
Anyway...
If someone could find the original images for some of the interfaces (like Jinn and Chimera...) you might be able to convert them at their original (instead of shrinking them to 640x480) resolutions right?
